Tales from Star City U.K. Tour 2020

Tales from Star City is blasting off on a national tour after two five star runs in London.

Based on true events, and untold stories, Tales from Star City explores the dark heart of the Soviet space race through the story of Polina Semyenova at the centre of it all. She is the listener.

Hidden away in the pithily named ‘Closed Military Townlet No. 1’ (later to become the eponymous Star City), Polina looks back on her dreams of being part of the great Communist movement, during one of the most dramatic decades of the Cold War. Join Polina as she reaches for the stars, and journeys through some of the brightest and darkest moments of the Space Race.

Tales from Star City is embarking on a national tour after a five star run at the Chiswick Playhouse in Spring 2018, and a transfer to the King’s Head Theatre in early 2019. It is Dan Dawes’ fourth play after Steel Tumbleweed, The Signalman, and Axolotl.

‘Bold and ambitious…simple yet stylish’ -The Stage.

A ‘heart-felt performance... five stars' -Breaking the Fourth Wall.

Audience feedback:

“Take all your preconceptions of a “one woman show” and throw them in the bin. I laughed and cried and lost track of the time completely”...”brilliantly written”... “a rare combination of science, history and fiction on stage”
